Tecnocárnica is an international exhibition of machinery, technology, equipment and supplies for the meat and meat products industry. This is one of Spain\'s most important technological sectors, with the greatest tradition, history and growth potential at an international level.
The meat sector accounts for 20.30f all Spanish food production, one fifth of the food sector. According to data from Confecarne (Spanish Confederation of Meat Industry Business Organisations), the sector grew by approximately 8n 2006.
The sector is investing heavily in research, development and innovation due to the need to comply with new European regulations and adapt to new consumption habits. The proliferation of one-person households, smaller family units, the frenetic pace of life and a concern for wellness are driving the sector to design, create and produce new products, formats and types of presentation, as well as developing lighter and healthier nutritional profiles.
In Spain, there are a total of 4,469 companies operating in the meat industry, representing 14.0342f food companies. This industry employs more than 85,408 workers, accounting for 19.8542f employment in the food industry, according to FIAB data.
