The outcome of natural silage fermentations without the use of an effective additive are not always successful. The reason is usually a combination of adverse weather conditions, low sugar contents in the crop, low numbers of lactic acid bacteria on the crop and the fact that the natural lactic acid bacteria are inefficient at converting sugars to lactic acid. It is important that the pH of the silage is rapidly lowered to ensure that the growth of the main spoilage bacteria (coliform bacteria and clostridia) is prevented.

Forage management
Producing high-quality feed for dairy and beef cattle starts with good forage management. Our silage inoculants, also called microbial silage fermentation enhancers, are used to help produce high-quality forage and thus enhance animal production. They are often used as an adjunct or alternative to chemical products.
