Position Summary: Responsible for the development and implementation of quality programs and procedures. Responsible for quality monitoring of all product lines manufactured in Lincoln and co-packers that add value to those lines along with raw material vendors supporting those lines. Supports management in providing quality information related to daily execution, trends and identification of areas for improvement. Participates in cross functional teams to ensure effective implementation of quality initiatives and processes. Manages a team of four direct reports consisting of three production auditors and a lab technician.

Primary Job Responsibilities
• Internal Quality Systems
• Develop, monitor and maintain internal quality systems and pre-requisite programs
• Implement system of identifying and addressing non-conformances
• Work with other departments to set up new or revised processing parameters
• Develop internal processing specifications for all raw materials and finished products
• Utilize metrics to define controls and use them to identify, investigate and improve performance
• Communicate performance to appropriate personnel and work with them to resolve inter-functional issues
• Work with consumer affairs to investigate and resolve customer complaint issues
• Develop and train associates in support of quality and pre-requisite programs to assure execution
• Oversee and manage performance of Quality Assurance technicians, Lab technicians and departmental budget

• HACCP Coordination
• Develop and maintain a fully functional HACCP system and pre-requisite programs
• Utilize laboratories and outside resources to measure HACCP performance and ensure product safety
• Reassess and validate programs on an on-going basis

• Raw Contract Manufacturing Quality
• Develop review systems to monitor vendor quality and identify non-conformance issues. Assist in the investigation and resolution of quality problems
• Participate in the approval of new vendors & co-packers
• On-going assessment of co-packers ability to perform
• Communicate performance to appropriate personnel and work with co-packers to ensure product quality
• Support vendor management efforts through facility audits, analytical & microbiological services, data review and interpretation

• GFSI
• Direct development of GFSI program for Lincoln operations, starting with the 56th Street facility
• Work with documentation manager to develop programs to support GFSI requirements
• Coordinate with all departments to assure full compliance across the spectrum of GFSI requirements

• Regulatory Support
• Participate in regulatory audits involving FDA & USDA agencies. Ensure regulatory compliance by addressing and correcting potential issues.
• Manage export audits and verify program compliance
• Coordinate Organic audits & monitoring programs to ensure NOP regulations are being met.


Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to perform in a manufacturing environment requiring some lifting and flexibility
• Willing and able to assist in a hands on environment as needed.

Skills and Technical Expertise:
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Food Microbiology or similar field preferred
• Ten plus years of relevant experience in a food manufacturing environment
• HACCP certification required
• Experienced in implementing GFSI in a manufacturing environment
• Proficient in using computers and software needed in the performance of the job.

Preferred Experience
• 7+ years of increasing responsibility in a food manufacturing environment
• 3+ years in a Quality position
• Bachelor’s Degree
• HACCP and Food Safety training


Relocation: Partial assistance available

Travel Requirements: Some travel will be required
